We recognize that health and happiness go hand-in-hand, which is why Protective offers employees and their eligible dependents a choice of subsidized medical, dental and vision plans. Employees can select the coverage that best meets their family’s needs from multiple options offered by BlueCross BlueShield, UnitedHealthcare, Delta Dental and UnitedHealthcare Vision.

Protective is also dedicated to providing an environment that enhances the physical and emotional well-being of our employees. Our ProHealth Wellness program and Employee Assistance Program ("EAP") allow employees access to a registered nurse, nutritionist and EAP counselor. Some worksites have additional wellness support services, including a fitness center, walking trails and on-site immunizations. A popular feature of ProHealth is HealthMiles, an incentive-based program that rewards participants with cash based on their activity level and biometrics.

Through our MoneyMatters benefits, Protective offers a range of financial programs to help employees and their families feel more secure and financially prepared for the future. We provide all employees with basic group term life insurance for themselves and their eligible dependents. Eligible employees are also automatically enrolled in the company’s pension plan, which is 100 percent funded by Protective. In addition, employees can obtain long-term disability insurance, contribute pre-tax dollars to medical and dependent care flexible spending accounts, and participate in the 401(k) and Stock Ownership Plan, with matching contributions from Protective.

Of course, it’s not all about work time. Play time is important, too. Protective follows a generous Paid Time Off (PTO) model in which vacation time, sick time and floating holidays are pooled into a single bank of available PTO. This approach gives employees substantial flexibility in determining how and when to use their compensated hours away from work. The ability to borrow time before it is accrued and the opportunity to carry over up to 40 hours of PTO from one year to the next provides even more flexibility. In addition to PTO, Protective observes nine designated holidays each year and provides up to six months of short-term disability leave at no charge for eligible employees.

Protective’s LifeWorks program includes a broad range of products and services designed to help employees balance the demands of work and home. Flex-time, adoption assistance and scholarships for employees’ dependents are just a few of the LifeWorks solutions.

Protective is committed to ensuring employees have access to a broad range of resources to support and propel professional development and growth. Employees have numerous opportunities for professional development with nationally recognized insurance educators or associations in their particular area of expertise. Employees are also eligible to receive tuition reimbursement for successful completion of college classes from accredited universities.
