Important note to customers

We’re making administrative changes and will soon transition most MONY and Equitable Financial Life Insurance Company of America (formerly MLOA) policies to a new system. Review the information below to learn what these changes mean for you.

About the upcoming system conversion
As part of our ongoing commitment to better serve our customers, we are converting your policy to a new administrative system. This change will not affect your benefits or coverage in any way. However, you will notice a few changes reflected on your statements, and some changes to customer service.

Important answers


As you might know, AXA Group is a global insurance firm headquartered in France. As part of AXA Group’s strategy to focus on the property and casualty market, it has decreased its ownership in AXA Equitable, which is a U.S.- based retirement, financial advice, and protection company.

This process began in 2017 and, since then, AXA Equitable has been following a separation plan which includes updating their brand. Similarly, because MONY Life Insurance Company of America (MLOA) is a subsidiary of AXA Equitable, MLOA will undergo a company name change and rebranding in 2020.

The terms and conditions of the original life insurance policies or annuity contracts issued by MONY and or MLOA have not changed.

No, your premium is not changing with the name change.

You may have received the letter because you have an AXA Advisor as your agent of record. As mentioned in the letter, in 2020 AXA Advisors will update its name to Equitable Advisors.

MONY’s name has not changed.

In Q2 2020, MLOA’s name will change and MLOA clients will receive notice of MLOA’s name and brand on the company website and in policyholder communications. We have a process in place to update MLOA’s name across all policyholder forms and those efforts will continue throughout the next year.

This company name change has no effect on the benefits or coverage provided by your life insurance policy or annuity.

The converted policy numbers will be preceded by two letters once they are converted to the new administrative system.

MONY - Life insurance policies that have policy numbers beginning with 1 through 9 (usually 7 or 8 digits), a numeric with X as the third digit (ie, 65x) and R.

MONY - Variable Life and Annuity contracts beginning with C1 and C6.

Equitable Financial Life Insurance Company of America - (previously named MONY Life Insurance Company of America (MLOA)) Variable Life and Annuity contracts number beginning with B1 or B6.

If your policy number is not listed above, then your policy will be converted at a later date and you will be notified by mail.

Your existing agent or advisor will not change as a part of this transition. You should continue to contact your agent or advisor if you need assistance with your policy or your insurance needs.

You can use our online portal to make your premium payments online at myaccount.protective.com/payment.

To mail your payment, refer to the payment mailing address listed on your most recent statement.

For additional information about where to mail your payments, please contact customer service at 1-800-487-6669.

You will now see a separate draft for each policy on your bank statement. If you have multiple policies auto drafting, you will see multiple draft amounts. MLOA customers should also expect to see the new company name on your statement due to the company name change.

If your policy anniversary and/or billing day is between the 29th-31st of the month, this day will be adjusted to the 28th of the month. This change will not affect your benefits or coverage in any way. Policy owners who have elected to have premiums withdrawn from their bank account between the 29th-31st of the month, will be adjusted to the 28th of the month.
