Opening celebration and stadium lighting ceremony

In September 2021, Protective employees and community stakeholders came together to mark a major milestone with the Protective Stadium sign-lighting ceremony.

First UAB Football home game

Protective Stadium officially opened on Oct. 2, 2021, with the UAB Blazers' home opener football game serving as its inaugural event.

Sold-out Birmingham Bowl

Protective Stadium celebrated its first sold-out event on Dec. 28, 2021, as Auburn and Houston squared off in the Birmingham Bowl. From the pregame Tiger Walk to the fireworks finale, the event delivered an unforgettable experience.

The World Games 2022

Protective Stadium hosted the opening and closing ceremonies of The World Games 2022, welcoming 3,600 athletes from more than 100 countries.

First concert: Garth Brooks

Country music legend Garth Brooks made history at Protective Stadium on June 4, 2022, filling the venue with fans for its inaugural concert event.
