Brandon Anthony, Business Systems Analyst
“My position focuses on agile processes, prioritization of tasks after meeting with stakeholders, what the outcome should be, where our ‘cans’ and ‘cannots’ fall within the tasks and expectations, and relaying those needs over to our development team.”

Brandon Anthony, Business Systems Analyst

In the role of business system analyst and scrum master, Brandon is responsible for the coordination and implementation of new technology projects and processes, including testing and data integration efforts, project tracking and documentation, and analyzing and resolving systems-related issues.

Brandon majored in business management and minored in finance at the University of North Alabama. He spent over a decade in the banking industry as a fraud and cash operations analyst, business analyst and compliance project manager before joining Protective.

The opportunity to expand beyond requirements collection and get more exposure to the development side of application development is what drew Brandon to his current position. “That exposure allows me to communicate effectively to the stakeholders and see limitations before going back to the development team,” he says. “It helps me to be a stronger team member.”

What is a typical day like as a business systems analyst?
A typical day for Brandon includes a morning stand up meeting where the team gets up to speed on current projects. He then takes any requirements and requests from that meeting and reaches out to other teams to get questions answered and set up meetings if needed. “It’s a role of building relationships across the board,” he says. “Someone in this position must be a people person and enjoy interaction. They should also be team-oriented and open to change.”

Brandon works on a wide range of projects, from structuring databases so people can run internal reports to developing applications that analyze products in order to provide current status and predictions. He says one of the most enjoyable parts of his job is getting to meet different people. “Everybody is easy to talk to and easy to work with,” he says. “Everybody is really open, really friendly and approachable. I never felt like the new guy. And there’s a lot of opportunity for growth. I’ve yet to feel like I’ve been put in a box.”

“I wasn’t familiar with the insurance industry. As a developer, the day-to-day can be different depending on what industry you support. The idea of learning something new was appealing.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Please visit myaccount.protective.com to manage your beneficiaries.
You use our online claim notification page located
For Universal Life policies, the amount you borrow still earns interest but at a guaranteed interest rate instead of a current interest rate. You are not required to pay the loan back. However, as long as there is a loan against the policy, you will be billed at a percentage of interest each policy anniversary. You can make payments on a loan. Therefore, it is beneficial to your policy for this amount to be paid back. If we do not receive the interest payment and there is enough cash value in the policy to cover the amount, the policy loan will increase by the amount of interest due. If there is not enough cash value in the policy to cover the interest amount, the policy could lapse. If a death claim occurs, the loan plus any outstanding interest not paid will be deducted from the death benefit proceeds paid to the beneficiary. Policy loans may affect how long your policy will stay in-force. Therefore, you may need to increase your premium at some time.
