In June 2019, Great-West Life & Annuity Insurance Company (GWL&A), Great-West Life & Annuity Insurance Company of New York completed the sale of certain individual life insurance and annuity business to Protective Life Insurance Company and Protective Life & Annuity Insurance Company (for policies issued in New York). Protective Life Insurance Company and Protective Life & Annuity Insurance Company are subsidiaries of Protective Life Corporation (Protective).
This conversion includes the following life insurance solutions underwritten by Great-West:
- Fully underwritten term policies
- Simplified issue term policies
- Simplified issue whole life
- Single premium whole life
- Single premium universal life
Your policy features will remain the same without any action required.
If you pay premiums by credit card or ACH, your data will be converted without any action required.
You’ll have a new policy reference number to file with your existing documents. This is the number you will see on correspondence and use for interactions with our service center moving forward. After February 1, policy correspondence like account statements and disbursements will be issued by Protective.
Please be aware that any disbursement requests made February 1 - 7, 2021, will be processed for payment beginning February 8 due to a short downtime for system migration. Additionally, any payments made during the first week of February will be posted to your account Monday, February 8.

Additionally, Protective offers convenient and secure self-service options that allow you to quickly manage your account online. You will have access to register for a self-service account soon.
