Protective Stadium
— Rich Bielen, President and Chief Executive Officer, Protective
Protective Stadium is a $200 million multi-purpose stadium with a capacity of 45,000. Part of the Birmingham Jefferson Civic Center Authority’s (BJCCA) long-term strategic plan for many years, it is the result of successful collaboration between the BJCCA, Jefferson County, the City of Birmingham, the Jefferson County Legislative Delegation and the Birmingham corporate community. Protective was announced as the stadium’s naming rights partner in 2019 and construction began in January 2020.
"Big things can happen when we collaborate toward a shared vision," says Protective’s President and CEO Rich Bielen. "I believe Birmingham has a bright future ahead, and Protective is proud to be a part of this project."
A stadium in downtown Birmingham has been a dream for many in the community for a long time.
