"At Protective, we believe everyone deserves a sense of protection and security — no matter where they're heading or how big they dream. Together we'll keep pushing to find better ways to serve our Protective family, partners and community. We protect them all, with care and a resolve to do what is right every day, every time — just as we have for more than 100 years. And as we will for the next 100."
— Rich Bielen, President and Chief Executive Officer, Protective
Protective has embraced change and thrived through many challenges throughout its history. That's why, since our founding, we have been diligent in building a sustainable business.
Protective's sustainability plan focuses on three primary pillars where we see opportunity for continued growth and impact by living out our purpose as protectors: Business. People. Community.
Investing in our business, our people and our communities
Driven by values
Our values guide us to inspire positive social impact. This includes investing in sustainable solutions, advancing Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) standards and meeting customers where they are with digital tools.
Putting people first
We know a highly motivated, engaged team sets us apart and makes us better protectors. Protecting our people means showing up for them, especially during the unprecedented challenges of 2020. To continue attracting new talent in 2020, we raised our minimum wage, encouraged adoption of expanded benefits and offered all employees 80 hours (10 days) of additional paid leave for COVID-related issues.
With a drive to do what's right and the heart to aspire for better, Protective remains dedicated to helping and supporting local causes that impact and uplift the communities we serve. Whether it's Birmingham, the Greater Cincinnati region, St. Louis or beyond, we want these regions to thrive because we're a part of them.
Opportunity to thrive
We know our continued commitment to diversity and inclusion is vital to living out our purpose: with our people, in the workplace and within our community. All voices deserve and need to be heard.
Our values guide us to inspire positive social impact.
Our enduring commitment to do right by those we serve starts with our people.
We work passionately to improve the quality of life in our communities.
